RETAIL Estate luminary Barbara Wolveridge has always looked at the big picture. She has outshone many in her highly successful career and it’s therefore no surprise that she saw tremendous opportunity in being appointed Director of the Port Douglas office of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty for Tropical North Queensland.

Among the world’s biggest brand names – their decision to open a Port Douglas office with Barbara at the helm, clearly underlines the increasing confidence in Far North’s luxury property market. It also illustrates her high profile in the real estate world. She will be managing clients from Mission Beach to the Daintree.

And barely getting her seat warm in her new role, Barbara has got off to an ideal start with John Morris’ – or Mr Port Douglas – home on Wharf Street as her first listing. Although the asking price has yet to be revealed, it is expected to be the town’s most lucrative sale.

The Morris’ purchased the multi-million dollar mansion 30 years ago; it is situated on a ridge overlooking the Coral Sea, and has five bedrooms, four ensuites and an office.

“This is a dream start and I am honoured and privileged in a number of ways. Being a part of the Sotheby’s brand is an honour in itself; and to list John’s house is equally humbling.

“John is an icon in this town and is well known for the construction and development of significant properties in the port,” said Barbara.

“This is an important role which will provide numerous challenges, and along with my boundless enthusiasm, I am very much looking forward to this new role.”

Originally British and now headquartered in New York, Sotheby’s is a pioneering business that offers the world’s most discerning clientele the opportunity to sell or acquire the rarest, most exceptional treasures.

With more than 90 Sotheby’s offices and 930 Sotheby’s International Realty offices, the brand is widely considered one of the most interconnected, truly global networks in the world and is able to provide unmatched white-glove service. The Sotheby’s brands form an unwavering alliance, jointly committed as one of the most storied names in business.

In the last 12 months its global network transacted over $105 billion in property sales.
