VINCENT Killeen, Nick Rayner, Luke Twomey, Ryan Stanaway, Hamish Batterham, Daniel Twomey, Angus Vikionkorpi; watch out for these names, as these are the latest crop of the junior NQ Homes Muddies Cricket Far North representatives.

Last Sunday, Endeavour Park, Cairns, was the venue for the announcement of the players who successfully trialled for a place in their CFN age group cricket team. Vin, Nick, Luke, Ryan, Hamish, Daniel and Angus were all selected to participate in their age group state titles between this coming December and January.

Their selection was the culmination of months of hard work for most of these young men. They nominated and then were selected in the CFN Marlins Cricket Academy, with the pre-season training occurring over a 10 week period leading in the September school holidays.

They then participated in a 3-day cricket camp where they were fine tuning their skills under the tutelage of a range of representative coaches. From there, they then had to attend selection trials, with Under 12’s trialling over three weekends after already playing their club cricket, and the older age groups only having the chance to impress in one day of selection trials. This all came to a head last Sunday with the representative teams announced in front of each other, with many great cricketers missing out.

Angus and Daniel were both selected for the Under 12 Ian Healy Development Cup, playing in Brisbane in early January. Hamish forced his way into the Under 12 CFN team to play in Rockhampton in early December. Ryan and Luke both performed extremely well and were rewarded with their selection in the Under 15 CFN team.

These boys will travel to the Sunshine Coast in early December for their state titles. Nick and Vincent were rewarded with selection in the Under 16 team that will compete in Mackay in December. Nick and Vincent have been regular selections in the C and B grade senior NQ Homes Muddies cricket teams over the past 2 seasons and have greatly benefitted from these experiences.

All of the Muddies family are extremely proud of these young men and we wish them the best during their state championships and for the rest of their cricket season. Well done!
