Just days ago Mossman's George Davis Park became a place of fun, food, music and games following the staging of the highly successful, Light up the park.

Mossman Support Services Youth Centre Coordinator Brody Andrews engaged in regular meetings with stakeholders, collaborating with and seeking input from many of the local services and staff to create a fun, inclusive afternoon that is hopefully just the beginning of things to come.

While the afternoon's events were supported by many community services and a mini grant from Douglas Shire Council, Mossman Support Services has applied for and is awaiting the outcome for a larger grant that will support the continuation and development of this wonderful event.

People of all ages attended and there was a strong feeling of community and camaraderie as they took part in events including dummy spitting, hoola hoops, pickle ball, skate competition, soccer, volley ball, rugby, frisbee golf,  fire truck exploration all to the back drop of "The Giggles" band playing with vigour and joy.

Brody said the event came out even better than he anticipated with services engaging interactively with the community and the community connecting with each other.
