Port Douglas Carnivale has confirmed two dynamic additions to this year's event line up – Savour TNQ and The Paradise Picnic.

Savour TNQ, a two-day food event will showcase the vibrant flavours of Tropical North Queensland at Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina on May 25-26.

From street-food delights infused with native ingredients to cocktail making demonstrations, Savour TNQ will offer a festival atmosphere filled with food stalls, bars, live music and family-friendly entertainment.

Cap off the Port Douglas Carnivale weekend with an unforgettable afternoon at The Paradise Picnic featuring Australia's leading female country singer, Amber Lawrence and a stellar lineup of local acts on Sunday, May 26.

With music, entertainment and family fun galore, the Paradise Picnic promises to be the perfect way to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Carnivale.

Both events are free and are made possible thanks to joint funding from the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

They round out a broader Carnivale program, which includes Queensland Symphony Orchestra, The Wonderland Spiegeltent, Tin Shed family beach day, street parade, the longest lunch, art and photography exhibitions, Port Douglas music trails and more.

Douglas Shire Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said Council was grateful both the Australian and Queensland Governments could support the iconic event.

“The shire continues to recover from Cyclone Jasper and to add more colour and excitement to the Carnivale program is a morale boost for both the community and local businesses during the shoulder (tourism) season,” Cr Scomazzon said.

“Savour TNQ will appeal to foodies of our region while I’m sure families will be dusting off their rugs and marking paradise picnic in their calendars.”
