Crystalbrook is giving little away but the luxury hotel and resort giant owned by businessman Ghassan Aboud appears confident that its Port Douglas Superyacht Marina will sell soon.

As Newsport editor Michael Warren reported exclusively in mid-March, marina tenants were told a sale process for the Marina was about to start, and potential buyers or their representatives would be taken through to inspect the complex.

We understand that at least two serious potential buyers are still in the game to acquire the Marina, marketed by property agents as “Australia’s Premier nautical destination.”

A short time ago, Newsport received a Crystalbrook Collection statement confirming that talks are underway on a possible sale.

“At this time, the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina remains on the market for sale,” the Crystalbrook Collection statement read.

“Our representatives CBRE Hotels, together with JLL, continue to engage in discussions with prospective buyers on our behalf."

Crystalbrook also said the sale of the Marina “will allow the company to focus on their core business as a leading hospitality company".

The company’s portfolio includes eight hotels located in Cairns, Sydney, Bryon Bay, Newcastle and a recently announced new-build hotel in the Adelaide CBD.

The Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina is Queensland’s northernmost marina, with 135 berths available for permanent and visiting vessels, five fisherman berths, comprehensive service for boats and crew, and can host superyachts up to 50 metres in length.

It’s set over 10-hectares of freehold and ‘seabed lease’ land.
