A man in his 40s was taken to Mareeba Hospital in a stable condition following a snake reportedly biting his leg at a Mareeba home at about 7pm last night.

This was the third reported snakebite in the region in the past six months, and the second this month.

A Port Douglas woman in her 60s was last week rushed to Mossman hospital after reports she had also been bitten on the foot by a snake on Sunday, November 2.

That incident was the second of its kind in Port Douglas in the past six months, with a teenage boy admitted to Mossman Hospital with a snake bite in late July.

The Queensland Ambulance Service could not provide any more details about the incidents.

If you have information for police about this, or any other, incident contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersqld.com.au.
