Palmer Sea Reef was again the venue for the VW Scramble regional qualifier golf event which attracted a competitive field.

With a total nett score of 57.25, the honours went to Megan Wallis, Steve Smythe, Janette Rogerson and Steve Rogerson.

Wayne Pavitt, Kallum Oates, Kye Chapple and Jason Wilkie were runners-up with 59.25.

Third place went to Kyle Livingston, Jo Mear, Peter Watts and Nigel Mear with 59.5.

The VW Scramble regional qualifier is a big event on the calendar and offers the winners entry into the regional final – held at Palmer Sea Reef last year – which is being staged in Townsville this year.

The event was a unique elimination Ambrose format played off the blue tees for men and red tees for women. This ensured a fair playing field for mixed teams with low and high handicap scorers as shown by the fact a 50/50 mixed team took out the top spot.
