NO INTEREST LOAN SCHEME (NILS) WORKER Position – Purpose, Responsibilities and Duties The NILS Worker is responsible for the delivery of the No Interest Loan Scheme to eligible community members, providing safe, accessible and confidential financial support to individuals and families on low incomes. The role supports clients to access fair and affordable credit, build financial capability, and reduce reliance on high-cost lending, while working within program guidelines, organisational policies and funding requirements. Key responsibilities and duties include assessing client eligibility, completing intake and loan applications, supporting clients with budgeting and repayment planning, maintaining accurate and confidential records, liaising and collaborating with external stakeholders, monitoring repayments, contributing to reporting and data collection, and promoting the NILS program within the community. The role also involves building positive relationships with clients and stakeholders, working in a culturally safe and trauma-informed manner, and participating in supervision, training and continuous quality improvement activities. The role will include weekly local outreach to Mossman, as well as quarterly outreach visits to the Cooktown, Hopevale and Wujal Wujal communities. These quarterly outreach activities will require extended travel and overnight stays as part of service delivery.
