Perennial Port Douglas favourite, Girls’ Night Out At Sheraton joins the Taste Port Douglas festivities with a special festival appearance on Friday 8 October to satisfy ladies who love great cocktails, food, wine and company.

The Taste Port Douglas edition of this Girls’ Night Out at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas will treat guests to a selection of two Belvedere cocktails and canapés on arrival, a delicious two course feasting style menu curated by two fierce culinary women; Celebrity restaurateur and MasterChef Alumni, Laura Sharrad and Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas Executive Chef, Belinda Tuckwell.

Two-time MasterChef contestant Laura Sharrad sources her inspiration from Italian home cooking and fresh seasonal fare. Her two young restaurants, Nido and Fugazzi, are already Adelaide favourites.

Sharrad made her first appearance on MasterChef Australia in 2014 at the age of 18. After impressing the masses with her fierce level of competition and finishing as runner-up, Laura went on to hone her culinary skills as a pastry chef at hatted restaurant Orana alongside Jock Zonfrillo.

She moved back to her hometown of Adelaide in 2018 to open up Nido, a contemporary Italian pasta bar alongside her husband and fellow chef, Max Sharrad. The Sharrad’s then went on to open Fugazzi, a luxe Italian American inspired dining room located in the heart of the city.

Sharrad was once again a fierce competitor on season 12 of MasterChef Australia, where she frequently wowed judges with her innovative dishes and refined craft. She published her first cook book My Italian Kitchen in 2015.

For Girls’ Night Out this Friday at Taste Port Douglas, Sharrad will put her own spin on a couple of simple classics; Queensland prawns and Spencer Gulf Kingfish.

Only recently taking on the role of Executive Head Chef at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas, Belinda Tuckwell arrived in the position with a wealth of experience.

After spending 11 years in Asia fine-tuning various high end dining experiences, Belinda returned to Australia keen to put her stamp on a project in her home country.

“Belinda has an amazing pedigree that includes the Sydney Opera House and some of the finest dining experiences in Asia. We’re very lucky to have someone of Belinda’s ilk heading up the kitchen team,” assistant food and beverage manager, Peter Elakis told Newsport.

This Friday Tuckwell will be showcasing an Aussie favourite, lamb rump with a Ricotta Gnudi.

A three-hour wine package and live music by Electric Dreams Entertainment sets the backdrop for the evening and Sheraton’s Daintree Bar will be open late for those wanting a post-event night cap.
