Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has today announced the restrictions, including mask-wearing, imposed following Brisbane’s snap three-day lockdown two weeks ago, would ease earlier than planned.

From 6:00am on Thursday restrictions will be lifted, brought forward from the originally planned 12:00pm.

“I had a meeting this morning with Doctor Young and the Health Minister and I can advise that the easing of our restrictions will be from 6.00 am tomorrow morning,” the Premier said.

“So that’s wonderful news.

“That means you don’t need to carry your masks,” she said.

However, the premier encouraged masks to still be worn when social distancing is not possible.

“If you’re going into a crowded area in a shopping centre or something or public transport and you can’t socially distance, have your mask and if you feel like putting it on, please feel free to do that,” the Premier said.

The easing of restrictions also means gathering limits have been increased, visitors are again allowed at hospitals, dancing at pubs and clubs is once again allowed while patrons can also stand to eat and drink.
