Douglas United Football Club has done the town proud after the Douglas Dragons picked up the Crad Evans Shield at the weekend and with it the Second Division Treble.

Once again the Dragons showed their ascendancy in all sections of play and easily accounted for Townsville Brothers 4-0 after leading 2-0 at the break.

With the league title and a Grand Final victory already secured, the Dragons went into this match to show why they are the champion team in North Queensland.

The Dragons started well and applied pressure. Although Brothers had a smart game plan, any chance of scoring was prevented by some outstanding goalkeeping by Yukito Machiya.

Going into the final half with a 2-0 lead, Brothers were unable to break through and the Dragons were able to achieve the highly sought after Treble.

Already one of the most popular sports in the shire, the Dragons are hoping their efforts do not go unnoticed and Douglas Shire Council provides more support for soccer.
