Favourite face appointed Retreat manager
BUSINESS FEATURE
A beloved Port Douglas favourite that’s an absolute go to for the ultimate in personal indulgence has formally appointed a manager to oversee a specific area of the business.
Founded and established by long-time owner Michael Joseph Deep Retreat is renowned for offering an amazing array of massage, beauty, spa, yoga and pilates treatments.
Michael will continue to focus on the yoga and pilates aspects of the business while well-known employee Mayra Fairlie will assume the role of manager of Deep Retreat. Michael will also focus on the new men's spa, which will specialise in providing deep tissue remedial body work - specifically for the needs of men.
Meantime Ms Fairlie has worked at the business since 2020 and with a physiotherapy background has the perfect pedigree to meet clients’ needs.
“I took the position as manager at the Deep Retreat, because it's a great opportunity for me, I have been working there for two years now and I know it's a good place to work with a good environment,” Ms Fairlie told Newsport.
“I love to help people and with my background as a physiotherapist I can recommend some exercises after the massage to get rid of those annoying trigger points during the treatment.
“We normally get a lot of tourists coming in for treatments, but from now I would like to focus on the local community because I know everyone works so hard.
“That's why the spa will be open seven days a week and of course, doing special local prices for locals or workers of the area.
“All the treatments includes 25 minutes in the bathhouse prior to the booking time, it's perfect to prepare the mind and body ahead of enjoying the massage and or, facial.”
The company owner is delighted with the appointment.
"I'm super excited for Mayra; she's worked for me for years, she is absolutely ready," Mr Joseph said of the development.
"The town adores her and I'm happy to hand over the spa to her."
Deep Retreat is located on the Corner of Owen and Warner Streets in Port Douglas.
