For 12 years we’ve always been right there.

Like a trusted friend you’ve turned to us for more than a decade to provide you with the highs, lows and everything inbetween about the daily happenings of our wonderful shire.

Here at Newsport we’ve captured, covered, catolgued and chronicled nearly every major news event in our region since 2009 - and as your most valued and trusted locally based, independent news service we can’t wait to do the same for the next 20 years.

But we’d welcome your help to do so.

Since 2009 our charter has always been to entertain, inform, engage, and deliver the news to our valued readers - and we remain steadfast in that mission today.

In fact since that time, we published more than 9000 local stories and as it stands we have an active story archive on our website that has the majority of our older stories from 2009-2023.

As it is, life - like our industry - the media news business, continues to change and evolve.

At Newsport we value and realise the critical importance of independent and trusted community journalism.

In recent times and in line with other small community news service outlets we’ve introduced a ‘support us’ icon on the top left hand corner of our home page.

If you value what we do, wish to ensure Douglas Shire residents are heard, have a voice and you want to preserve community journalism for many years to come - we welcome your contribution, however big or small.

Whether you click the icon and make a once off, twice yearly or any particular donation just know your contribution is valued and will make a difference.

It will make a difference by ensuring Newsport is able to continue to focus on delivering quality stories and journalism every day of the week.

Digital news is the way of the future. We're proud to have delivered so much of your local news in the past and we're excited to to provide you this style of news for many years to come.

We thank you for your offering no matter how big or small. A reminder you can find the support us icon on the top left hand side of the homepage.
