Dear Editor,

My husband and I recently moved to Port Douglas on a permanent basis.  We have been holidaying here nearly every year since 1997.  We moved from (miserable) Melbourne.

I wanted to say how happy we are to be received by such beautiful people and a wonderful community in Port and the wider Tablelands area.

Everyone from locksmiths, landscapers and the locals have been lovely to us.

We are truly blessed to have caring people (like when we had no electricity, we were offered a generator and a dinner at somebody’s house).

Sadly mateship is unheard of in Melbourne now.

It definitely was alive in the 70’s and 80’s.  And that’s why we love being here. Thank you people of FNQ and the Douglas Shire community.

Regards,

Joe & Esther Faggianelli
