LETTER TO ED: Douglas Shire Council failure, incompetence around water system management sparks questions about Cairns re-amalgamation

RE-AMALGAMATION DISCUSSION

Dear Editor,

I’m living and working in Port Douglas for nine years now and I’ve noticed Port Douglas is sadly going downhill for a few years already.

The Douglas Shire is not improving in many aspects.

It feels like we have been left out and left behind regarding what causes an impact on locals, national and international tourists and also businesses.

The recent water infrastructure problems made me thinking of what if…what if Port Douglas would be under and part of Cairns Regional Council again?

I’m not using social media at all and that’s why I thought Newsport would be able to find out the thoughts from the wider Douglas community about re-amalgamation with Cairns again.

Kind regards,
