A 15-year-old Coen girl has been arrested after allegedly brandishing a knife in the carpark of Cairns Central shopping centre yesterday afternoon.

Police were called at about 1pm after reports of a fight between two females.

Upon arrival, the officers allegedly saw the teenager with a knife in her hand, which she dropped after a short standoff.

The girl has also been charged with two other offences after a chunk of concrete was used to smash the windscreen of a car parked on Abbott Street on Thursday, August 7, and items were stolen from a Sheridan Street service station on Friday, June 27.

She has been charged with obstructing police, possessing a knife in public, wilful damage, and stealing.

The teenager is due to appear before the Cairns Childrens Court on Wednesday, September 10.
