BUSINESS FEATURE

A fully equipped walk-in walk-out salon in the heart of Mossman is now on the market - a rare opportunity for a hairdresser to step into an established business with loyal clients, low overheads, and a strong local reputation.

Local hairdresser LJ Kidd, who has run the popular Front Street salon for the past eight years, has announced the decision to sell as she prepares to begin a new chapter in her life.

“This shop has given me so much,” LJ said. “But it’s time for someone new to take it on.”

The sale is a complete turn-key operation, with everything in place for a smooth transition.

The 56m² salon is fully set up with five cutting stations, two basins, and a private room suitable for waxing, nails, or other beauty treatments, all ready for a new owner to walk in and get started straight away.

A kitchen, laundry, and storage area are also part of the layout, offering everything needed to run the business smoothly from day one.

“I fitted this place out eight years ago and it cost me $27,000,” LJ said. “That’s all I’m asking for, no goodwill, no fuss. You just need your scissors and clippers, and you’re ready to go.”

The rent is $320 per week including water, with electricity averaging $250 a month- even with the air conditioning running all day.

LJ describes the landlord as supportive and says a new lease has already been confirmed, offering the next owner both stability and peace of mind.

Over the years, she has built a loyal, family-focused client base, and the thoughtfully designed, well-maintained salon is set up for continued success.

A business built with heart

When LJ Kidd first took over the shop, it was a blank canvas. She personally designed and fitted it out, creating a space that reflects her passion, professionalism, and commitment to the local community.

“I’m proud of what I’ve built here,” she said. “It’s clean, comfortable, and it works. It’s an easy business to run, and the prime main street location brings in plenty of walk-in clients.”

Now, after eight years, LJ is ready to begin her next adventure. At 62, she’s setting off on a caravan working holiday, travelling around Australia while continuing to do the work she loves along the way.

Grateful for the community support over the years, LJ is committed to helping the right buyer take over.

“A big thank you to the beautiful community for supporting me,” she said. “I’ll do my best to bring someone in who can keep offering the same great service.”

And to any potential buyer, she adds: “Don’t be scared. My shoes aren’t that big, you can step into them easily.

“This is a great chance to run your own place without the usual headaches. It’s all here, ready to go.”
