The Four Mile Beach swimming enclosure stinger net will go out again later this week, but is scheduled to be pulled in next week for the entire dry season.

If you were hoping the recent removal of the Four Mile Beach swimming enclosure stinger net was the last you have seen of it until next wet season, you will have to wait a little bit longer.

The net has been temporarily out of the water this week due to the wet and windy weather, but will be going back in later this week once the skies clear up, according to a Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club spokeswoman.

The plan, however, is to remove the net for the whole dry season from this Monday (May 19) before Port Douglas Carnivale celebrations heat up.

But this timeline will also depend on testing to see if there are jellyfish still around, with the water temperature a key factor in that equation.

The spokeswoman said the removal would not be rushed, with swimmer safety the priority, but the aim was to have everything ready for an expected influx of tourists next week for Carnivale.
