One of the Sheraton Mirage pools was shut down on Saturday morning as an about 1m croc paddled around nonchalantly in the waters.

Warning tape reading “danger” in block letters was extended around the pool as curious tourists stood around pointing and taking videos and photos on their phones.

The rest of the pools remained popular, with guests swimming, relaxing and frequenting the local bars and restaurants.

Witnesses spoken to by Newsport said crocodile handlers from Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation Department  (DETSI) captured the juvenile croc in the early afternoon of Saturday, October 18.

The incident follows a sighting of another small crocodile at Four Mile Beach on Friday, October 17.

The State Government Crocodile Sightings Dashboard confirmed there had been a report of a croc near Solander Boulevard at Four Mile Beach on Friday at 9.45am.
