A Palm Cove restaurant was broken into at about midnight last night, with three teenagers arrested following the incident.

Just after midnight a glass door at the restaurant was smashed and police were immediately called.

A pair of 15-year-old girls and a 14-year-old boy were found by police hiding in the restaurant, with a backpack filled with electronic menu tablets also allegedly found.

Police said the boy had a knife and bank cards that were not in his name.

All three teenagers were charged with entering premises, while the boy was also charged with possessing a knife in public and possessing suspected stolen property.

They are due to appear before the Cairns Childrens Court on Wednesday, October 22.
