The Junior Rugby Union season is set to kick off this week, with local club Port Douglas Reef Raiders fielding four teams across multiple age groups.

Kids aged four to 16 have proudly pulled on the Reef Raiders jersey on Friday night in Cairns, marking the first round of the 2025 Junior Rugby Union season which goes for eight weeks.

Over the past few years, Junior Coordinator Damien Friedrichs has helped grow the club’s junior program, with participation numbers increasing each season to reach more than 30 players already registered this year.

The club welcomes new players to join in the fun and get involved this season.

Training takes place at Raider Park, Port Douglas Sports Complex:

Under 9s: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6pm

Over 9s: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6pm

Games: Every Friday night at Jones Park, Cairns
