Fielding was the main difference between the two teams after the Port Douglas Muddies Third Grade team went down to Bhutanese Rovers in an even contest on Saturday at home in Cricket Far North action.

The Rovers held their catches in a polished display in the field, while the Muddies dropped several opportunities, including top-scoring batsman Sanjay Rai (61) twice in one Andy Fenwick over.

Winning the toss, Port Douglas batted first, scoring 7/122 in its allotted 35 overs.

Cam Williams top scored with 38, while Brad Case made 22.

In reply, the Rovers made 6/123 in 31 overs, with captain Adrian Bannerman and Fenwick both taking two wickets.

The Muddies face Barron River at home this Saturday from 1pm.

In the Fourth Grade competition, the Muddies bowled first and restricted Barron River to 9/125, but fell away with the bat, posting just 63 runs.

That team faces Mulgrave away this Sunday at 8am.
