Let's stop bagging out Douglas Shire Council - it has nothing to do with them. As for the Raintree - I'm as GREEN as anyone could be & don't like any trees being axed but folks, do your homework on this species. It's too late to object to projects/developments once they have commenced. Contact QLD government to see what else might be in the pipeline and put your energy where it may have some positive influence.

I don’t think they (raintrees) are native to the area anyway are they ? More development more jobs, area needs it.

So it’s socially unacceptable to provide housing for your fellow citizens? Really? What is wrong with people?

Dole bludgers don't. There are many who never have any intention of working and before say some can’t then there is ALWAYS a job that anyone can do. The Government should make a much better effort in taking money back from dole bludgers.

Council should provide a curbside pickup of branches/palm fronds before the cyclone season

And a cheaper stall site for resale I think this is aimed at businesses to have a stall not everyday householders wanting to sell their clutter.

I pay someone to pick up our green waste - biodiversity Great service

Maybe green waste bins for everyone? The amount of Green waste that goes into landfill is crazy. We live on the edge of the GBR and Daintree yet last time i asked they said “it’s not in the budget”. Yet so many other cities and towns have green waste bins that get collected fortnightly and fill goes into mulch and gardens. Shouldn’t we be doing everything possible to look after our environment and a green waste bin is pretty easy to set up and will leave the landfill bins just for rubbish.

I compost all my green waste and use it in my garden. Don’t make me subsidise other people’s wastefulness If you want a green bin pay individually.

As Alexander Pope realised over 300 yrs ago “A little learning is a dangerous thing” and we see that playing out today in populism fueled by misinformation. Australia per person is the 2nd highest greenhouse gas emitter in the world but of course our overall % is not huge because of our small population. But a simple analogy here would be it’s easier for a 100Kg man to lose weight than a 60Kg one, even if there are many more of them. So it would be easy for us to set an example and get fitter!

Spoken like a true Zealot Australia relies on massive royalties Coal provides to our economy if we stop exporting millions of tons of coal to China and India we all suffer, governments will have to increase taxes or other charges or reduce services because of the serious loss of hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue.
