A beloved canine companion has tragically passed away after swimming in Spring Creek, a popular spot for dog owners in Mowbray.

The unfortunate incident occurred when the dog enjoyed a swim in the refreshing waters of Spring Creek. However, shortly after the swim, the dog started showing distressing symptoms.

It is currently unclear whether the cause of these symptoms was due to the dog eating something harmful or suffering a bite from a toxic source.

According to the dog owner, the symptoms that eventually led to the dog's passing were clear from the beginning, but progressively worsened over the span of a week.

The pet initially showed signs of refusing to eat, drink, or walk. As time passed, the symptoms progressed, and the dog began experiencing seizures.

The owner promptly rushed to Mossman Veterinary but despite the best efforts of the veterinary team, the condition of the dog worsened rapidly, and sadly, their efforts were in vain

Mystery

The dog owner, along with the veterinarian, conducted a thorough examination but could not find any signs of bite marks on the dog.

It appears that this tragedy might not be an isolated incident. Another local dog is reported to have suffered a similar fate after visiting Spring Creek.

The mounting concern among residents has prompted speculation that the potential cause of these incidents could be linked to the presence of 1080 bait, a widely used pesticide for control of feral animals.

Many are now urging authorities to investigate the matter further to determine the exact cause of these tragic occurrences and ensure the safety of pets and their owners in the area.
