Road closures and works schedule
Road Works

A trio of Port Douglas and surrounds roads are set for temporary closures and upgrades starting this week and in September, Douglas Shire Council has advised.
Cassowary Road, near the Soccer Club, will have traffic control measures in place for around three days, weather permitting, from September 1, as council will be undertaking essential infrastructure works to replace two defective stormwater pipelines.
Traffic control measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works to ensure the safety of workers and road users. Access to the Cassowary Valley will be maintained for residents at all times.
Road resurfacing will occur on Garrick Street, Port Douglas, on September 4 with the stretch of road adjacent to the splash park closed to traffic all day or until contractors complete the work.
And one lane of Warner Street (behind Coles), Port Douglas, will be temporarily closed from: 12:01am (midnight) to approximately 7:00am on Tuesday, September 16 September.
This closure is to allow for the safe operation of a large crane to lift equipment as part of scheduled works.
The early morning start has been scheduled to ensure all lifting is completed in one session, minimising disruption to the community and local businesses.
