“Oh Boy!… look how far you’ve come.”

That is what so many are saying about beaming, energetic eight-month-old Cody Davis as his parents Stacy and Ricky Davis thank the Mount Molloy and surrounding community for its support through a tough but heartwarming year so far.

The Mount Molloy community came together in late January to support the family of baby Cody, a then 13-day-old infant who had to be airlifted from Cairns to Townsville hospitals in a critical condition.

Born with a severe lung and heart condition and fighting three different infections, Cody required urgent specialised care after his condition worsened.

Stacy and Ricky, and a big band of supporters, feared they would lose Cody, but he is now described as a “very energetic little boy’’.

“We are just blown away with the support we received. At the beginning we didn't think he would come home,’’ Stacy said.

“The love and support we received from the special care team at Cairns Base Hospital we wouldn't have got through it without them.

“Strangers, local businesses, friends and family. We will be truly grateful.”

Stacy says Cody is now putting on weight and is full of energy and “catching up’’.

“Cody is so much better he's like a new baby so happy breathing so much better full of energy.

“Before his heart surgery he would get so tired drinking his bottle and fall asleep. Now he's able to finish a full bottle and enjoys his meals.’’

The emergency in January had left his parents unable to work while they stayed by his side, and mounting expenses added to their challenges.

A fundraiser was spearheaded by Ashlee Young and Shane McElligott from the Mount Molloy National Hotel and raised more than $6000.
