Armed robbery charges for Aurukun teens

Officers from Aurukun Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and General Duties have charged three teenagers following an incident in Aurukun on April 24.

It will be alleged around 5pm, two boys aged 15 and 16 approached a woman in a parked vehicle on Kang Kang Road, and threatened her with a machete, before stealing the vehicle.

The woman was not physically uninjured.

The vehicle was abandoned a short distance away and the boys allegedly fled on foot.

Two Aurukun boys aged 15 and 16 were each charged with one count each of armed robbery and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

They were both remanded in custody to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court today, April 29.

A 13-year-old Aurukun boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in the Aurukun Childrens Court on May 13.
