If you’ve ever dreamt of joining the circus, now is the perfect time to start.

Douglas Shire’s own Sea Circus is holding children’s workshops in skills such as mini stilt walking, hula hooping, ball spinning, aerial silks, lyra pole and salsa dancing, followed by a performance, at The Surfy this Saturday, April 11, from 5pm.

Sea Circus owner Vanessa Carey says the workshops will be fun and hands-on.

“You’ll discover the magic of ancient treasures through playful acts and cool tricks in circus arts, aerial acrobatics and dance,” she says.

“Come give it a try. You never know. You may just fall in love with something you never thought you’d do.”

There will also be DJ tunes, bubble blowing, face painting, raffles, best-dressed contests, a pirate boat and mermaids.

Go dressed as your favourite ancient god/goddess, rainforest or sea creature for the Ancient Treasures theme.

You can also learn basic SUP board and kite wing skills with tour operator Windswell on the day.

The event will conclude with a short performance by Sea Circus, Pyro Glow Productions and Keep on Dancing, but they will be saving their more jaw-dropping acts for the big Carnivale Showcase next month.

Book now here, with tickets $15 and free for those under 6.
