Much-loved Aussie musician Missy Higgins has been announced as one of the headline acts of the Savannah in the Round festival in Mareeba in October.

In the final act announcement of the festival, Higgins, party band Furnace and the Fundamentals and up-and-coming country singer Bella Mackenzie will join acts such as Icehouse, Don McLean, Tyler Braden, Lee Kernaghan, Ian Moss and Troy Cassar-Daley, The Wolfe Brothers, San Cisco, Busby Marou and Kingswood at the huge Far North Queensland event.

Since bursting on the Australian music scene in 2004 with her multi-award-winning debut album The Sound of White, Higgins has continued to write and sing innovative songs during a career embraced by her fans.

Her most recent release The Second Act debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and also won multiple awards.

Festival organiser James Dein welcomed the addition of Higgins to the Savannah program.

“Having Missy join us in Mareeba adds another layer to an already strong program,” he said.

“She is one of Australia’s most celebrated musicians, and we are really excited to add

her to the program.”

Savannah in the Round is on at the Mareeba Rodeo Arena from October 8–11.
