Sea search ends with body pulled from Port Douglas waters

The body of a man was pulled from waters off Port Douglas on Saturday afternoon ending the search for a 23-year-old who had fallen overboard from a vessel earlier in the day.

Authorities suspended the search for a man who went overboard off the coast of Port Douglas near Batt Reef around 11.30am on Saturday.

Police said a 23-year-old man died after falling from a marine vessel.

Marine crews and aerial units were deployed to search the area.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said after 2:20pm a man was located deceased in the water and has since been recovered.

“Formal identification has yet to be conducted, however officers believe it is to be the 23-year-old man,” he said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
