The father and son combination of Dave and Rhys have become the first two-time winners in Round 6 of the Daddyshack Indoor Ambrose Golf League on Ireland’s Druids Glen course.

This was a great effort considering there was already a great score posted by new leaders Joe and Matt, but two late birdies got them over the line by one point.

There is also a change at the top, with the leaders having two bad-scoring weeks in a row and Joe and Matt taking over at the head of the table.

This week it's the always challenging Royal County Down.

This course is voted number one in the world for a reason.

The links fairways will be running, and the wind will be blowing, so look out!

Season Standings are:

1. Joe/Matt 149 pts

2. Dave/Rhys 148 pts

3. Peter/John 146 pts

4. Tim/Peter 145 pts

5. Doug/Jamie 143 pts

6. Mark/Nick 95 pts

7. Deb/Bec 85 pts

8. Brad/Simon 47 pts

9. Lance/Ryan 26 pts

Crocs AFL

The Port Douglas Crocs AFL women’s team has a new coach.

Anthony Wilson started out in Victoria before moving to Queensland at age 16, where he played juniors for Surfers Paradise and Southport.

He played Under 19s for Preston in the Victorian Football Association and Southport before moving to Pennant Hills in Sydney.

Anthony finished his playing days at Surfers Paradise, highlighted by a 1998 reserves premiership and five consecutive over-30s flags.

Since 2017, he has been a key part of the Moranbah Bulldogs, including coaching the women’s program.

Lawn bowls

Mossman’s Malachy McTaggart lost the final of the Tropical Far North Queensland Singles Championship to Innisfail bowler John Phillips at West Cairns on Saturday.

Cricket

The Muddies cricket teams were both washed out again on the weekend.

This week the Thirds team takes on Barron River in Port Douglas on Saturday from 1pm, while the Fourths face Mulgrave at Walker Road in Cairns on Sunday from 12.30pm.

Netball

The Port Douglas Netball Association sign-on day is today, with the event starting at 4pm at Port Douglas Sports Complex.
