Daintree Village streets and shops have been reopened by police after they were shut down this afternoon when multiple witnesses reported a single gunshot ringing out about 200m-300m from the main street.

Up to five police cars, ambulances and more than one helicopter rushed to the scene about 3.30pm, but the emergency operation has now been scaled back.

Several people in Mossman contacted Newsport to say up to five cars with sirens passed through the town on the way through, with others posting online that at least some of the police cars have rushed up from Cairns.
