On Thursday, 9 July, the industrial space at The Mill in Stratford came alive to kick off the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) Fashion Performance.

The historic timber mill on Yirrganydji Country was packed out, with a massive crowd turning up for the community shows.

Everyone gathered to see a record-breaking lineup of 24 designers, including local Queensland talent, guest designers from Indigenous Fashion Week New York, and Indigenous Taiwanese artists.

The 75-minute show completely captivated the audience, beautifully blending incredible wearable art with live music, choreography, and digital projections under the theme "Reclamation & Regeneration."

While the fashion took over The Mill, the rest of the CIAF festival is happening just down the road at the Tanks Arts Centre.

For the rest of the weekend (running through until Sunday, 12 July), the Tanks will be the main hub, packed with free public events, masterclasses, a massive artisans market, and incredible art exhibitions.
