When I first visited Mossman over 40 years ago, those raintrees were the first things I loved and marvelled at. And every day I went there, I admired those beautiful trees. If for no other reason, they must be kept as they are a vital part of Mossman's identity. Old trees are like kind old friends who are always there for everyone and ask for little. Please let them live.

Oh dear... the activities of councils they do love to cut down trees... there should be a watchdog set up to keep them in check. It's amazing that in 2026 they still have not learned preserving the nature.

The first thing I saw in Mossman that took my breath away. Wouldn't be the place it is without those trees.

My favourite place to go to when I come home to Mossman for a holiday.

I don’t think they would dare touch those trees and why would you build anything else in Mossman when there’s so many empty stores?? Bit like Port Douglas maybe another coffee shop.
Darryn Slade
This is good news. It broke my heart and I think it destroyed the soul of the town when the Council cut down half of the big trees in the main street to put in streetlights.
Wet Creb Track catches travellers out

Idiots. Track is closed, but they are entitled. They’ve come all this way so why should they turn back? Too bad about the damage they cause and that by the recovery. And so the track opening is likely to be delayed. More people to be disappointed, travelling all that way and having to turn back. Bloody idiots.

No care giving, considering they stated it had rain an areas may be impassable... your choice meh.
Cathie Jones
I thought it was still closed.

What is this stupid idea that Daintree Village can’t wait till Creb Track is open again? To get the tourists back. Makes it sound like it's the only way to Daintree.
Port Douglas Airbnb growth rate is real

AirBNB caused/causes homelessness during/after Covid for many local residents. Now we have a rental crisis. Most of these AirBNBs sit empty especially in the quieter months. There is so much holiday accommodation in the region and no/little accommodation for workers. It is not fair to people and it is happening everywhere in Australia.
Stephen Fuller
Is it wrong to own an Airbnb? After all they are only an accommodation business not much difference to the Sheraton minus a restaurant or two. Given how changes have been made to capital gains tax, having an Airbnb is a good business model giving better returns for your investment.
