Douglas Heat Basketball Club hosted teams from Cooktown, Atherton and Innisfail last month for the regional representative carnival.

From U10s through to U19s, the courts were packed all day with teams playing multiple games and putting on an amazing display of skill, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Douglas Heat had a strong showing across all age groups, coming away with a number of wins and some incredibly close games that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Through their commitment to training and new weekly interclub games, it was amazing to see how far all the local players have improved on the court.

Events like these bring so much energy to our community while also supporting local small businesses and boosting the local economy.

The club offers a massive thank you to all players, coaches, referees, volunteers, families and supporters who helped make the day such a success.

Full training will be provided. Staff are rostered on-call one week in three and can usually fit this work around a regular weekday job. You will be paid a daily on-call allowance and a generous $300.00 minimum call out payment. The applicant needs to have a full drivers licence, be well groomed, ability to work as part of a team, maintain confidentiality, physical fitness, willingness to work outside regular business hours and a compassionate and caring attitude.
