Four talented Mossman dancers have proven that Far North Queensland can hold its own against the world's best, returning home victorious from one of the most prestigious Highland Dancing events in the Southern Hemisphere.

Sophie Hamilton, Zoe Wilson, Chloe-Alexandria Nimmo, and Tijania De Caux, all from Mossman’s SharCeltica Highland Dancers, recently travelled to the Gold Coast for the Champion of Champions competition.

The elite event brought together around 500 top dancers from Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, and Canada, all marked by a worldwide panel of nine judges.

Despite facing such a massive global field, the Mossman dancers blew past all expectations, bringing home an incredible 24 medals and two trophies between them.

The weekend was packed with highlights. Zoe Wilson secured first place in two of her dances, while Chloe-Alexandria Nimmo went on a stellar day-one winning streak.

Chloe's performance instantly promoted her to the elite “Premier” section for the rest of the event, making her the first dancer in SharCeltica's history to reach this top tier.

SharCeltica Highland Dancers was only founded in January 2023, teaching both traditional and modern Scottish dance with a focus on strength and agility.
