Excitement is building down at the Croc Pit as the second former AFL star this year readies himself to pull on the blue-and-white guernsey for Port Douglas in tomorrow’s home footy game.

Former Giants and Essendon star Dylan Shiel trained with the undefeated Port Douglas Crocs AFL team yesterday to help familiarise himself with the team, and also give the juniors some valuable pointers, in preparation for his Crocs debut tomorrow afternoon against second-placed South Cairns Cutters.

“Dylan’s knowledge will be invaluable to our junior coaches,” a club release states.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our players, supporters, and the wider community to see a genuine AFL star in action right here at the Croc Pit.”

Tomorrow promises to be a “memorable day of football”, according to club officials.

Shiel’s one-off match comes after the successful appearance of former Richmond great Dustin “Dusty” Martin earlier in the season.
