When asked what they are looking forward to most about Easter coming up, the decision is obvious for Douglas Shire locals Lana, 9, and Joah, 12.

“Chocolate,” they answer emphatically in unison.

Of course, there is much more to Easter than just sweet treats, with Christians marking the death and resurrection of Christ, and nature-lovers celebrating the full moon.

Lana’s family is doing one of the most Far North Queensland Easter celebrations imaginable - staying at a house at Lake Tinaroo for the weekend.

But she will have to put in a bit more preparation to fulfill her desire to snare as much chocolate as possible during the Easter egg hunt on Sunday morning - she was not even aware a hunt was happening until she was told about it by her older sister this week.

“Oh yeah,” Lana said about the sisterly reminder.

And when it comes to whether or not the eggs are delivered by a big bunny rabbit, seeing is believing for the nine-year-old.

“I have no idea,” she says.

“I think I really want to see him.

“I don’t believe it until I see it.”
