Chance to meet some World Cup mates at beach soccer game

The North American soccer FIFA World Cup is just around the corner, and Port Douglas will be kicking off celebrations on Monday afternoon with an Australia versus The Rest of the World beach game at Four Mile Beach.
The soccer match is being organised by a host of venues around town who are throwing their weight behind events and parties where the games - which are being played in Mexico, Canada and the US from June 12 - will be televised.
Organiser Greg “Harry” Potter from the IronBar says a heap of venues and other outlets are getting onboard, including Dougies Backpackers, N17, The Oaks resort, Paddy’s and SportsPower - which is selling jerseys from across the world if you are looking to step out in your country colours.
“There’s such a lot of different nationalities in Port Douglas, so we’re looking at celebrating the World Cup,” Harry says.
“Knowing how the world is at the moment, it will be good to join together and celebrate humanity.”
Harry is inviting people of all nationalities to come down to Four Mile Beach south of the flags from 3pm on Monday, June 1, to play in the social soccer game, make some friends, and work out where you will be watching the matches - make sure you wear shoes if you’re playing.
