Oaks Port Douglas Resort is positioning itself as a top choice for conferences and executive retreats. At a local industry showcase on Wednesday, May 6, the resort demonstrated how it is blending “business and leisure” to attract corporate groups to the tropics.

As businesses increasingly seek out unique off-site experiences, the resort is positioning itself as a premier tropical destination for everything from strategy sessions and leadership retreats to award nights.

A major draw for the resort is its “all-in-one” setup. With 192 rooms on-site, groups can stay together and move easily from a morning meeting to a poolside afternoon without needing extra transport.

To demonstrate this versatility, the resort’s ballroom was transformed into a multi-functional hub for the event. 

The space featured several configurations simultaneously, including formal dinner settings, conference layouts, and a dedicated stage, allowing guests to see exactly how the venue adapts to different needs while sampling signature canapés and live music.

Versatile spaces

The display served as a live preview of what can be achieved across the resort’s nine function rooms, which can accommodate up to 200 guests.

General Manager Paul Parrent noted that while Oaks is a go-to for corporate events, it remains a firm favourite for personal celebrations like birthdays. 

He highlighted the Lilipad Restaurant, where a wooden deck overlooking a tranquil pond offers a relaxed atmosphere for buffets, and mentioned the poolside area as a vibrant option for high-energy parties with live DJs.

The resort’s “stay and play” experience is supported by Day Delegate Packages starting at $65 per person and a network of expert partners specializing in AV, photography, and team-building activities like reef trips and wellness sessions.
