High-powered global launch for Douglas author's debut novel

A global release at the start of next month, more than 25 magazine interviews, and 20 years of rejections - Port Douglas author Samantha Ross says it is “surreal” to finally see her debut novel hitting the shelves.
Possible Springs, a mystery novel with a hint of magical realism, will be released across the world by Penguin and Random House on Tuesday, June 2.
“Through those 20 years of rejections it was in great part my community that kept me going when I lacked faith in myself that I would ever make it,” Ross told Newsport last week.
“Their faith and belief in me kept me going when I forgot how to believe in myself.”
Set against the nostalgic backdrop of ’90s music, the coming-of-age story features some small-town mysteries.
The town of Possible Springs is teeming with dark secrets, and 18-year-old Jimny Adams, with her ability to see inside people’s thoughts, could be the only person capable of uncovering them.
Ross, who says she grew up with a medium grandmother who taught her how to keep herself safe from bad luck, is a strong believer in manifestation.
She says she in part manifested her publishing deal with Penguin by envisioning her publisher, who she’d never seen before, smiling while reading her manuscript.
Possible Springs will be released on paperback, e-book and audiobook on June 2.
