Beautiful sunshine across the entire weekend helped make Port Douglas Carnivale 2026 a huge success, as venues across the town celebrated the best the tropical north has to offer.

The headline event, music festival Savannah Sounds, attracted more than 5000 onlookers, with headliners Sneaky Sound System, Kingswood, Vanessa Amorosi, Jon Stevens and Dragon all wowing the crowds.

Thousands of families flocked to Four Mile Beach on Saturday to see the kites, sandcastle competition and more, while a host of other events were also well attended across the weekend.

The Macrossan Street Parade and fireworks on Friday night were popular, but organisers also acknowledged the tragic road accident on Friday afternoon that took the lives of two Douglas Shire locals.

Residents reported having to take an up to three-and-a-half hour diversion to reach Port Douglas, while many Cairns attendees simply turned back home.
