Pooch Party raises close to $5000 for animals in need

The results are in for this year’s Pooch Party, and the winner is a double act for the first time in Port Douglas Carnivale history.

Douglas's Top Dogs for 2026 were Skipper and Chelsea, owned by Amanda Connolly - the event’s first-ever team entry.

Cassie Flinn, from Pooch Party joint sponsor Ray White Port Douglas, said the charity event made close to $5000 for Paws and Claws animal shelter.

“This Port Douglas Carnivale event just keeps growing in support and good times every year,” Cassie says.

“It's a community truly changing the lives of animals in need.” 

There were 47 entries to this year's competitions, which included best-dressed dog, best trick and best lookalike.

 

The full Pooch Party results were:

 

  • Best Dressed Dog - chihuahuas Skipper and Chelsea with owner Amanda Connolly
  • Best Dog Trick - titoodle Alfie with trainer Estella (has won this event every year - five times in a row)
  • Naughtiest Dog Tails of Destruction - jack russell Olive with owner Soula
  • Dog with the Waggiest Tail - jack russell Phillydog with owner Kaya
  • Owner/Dog Lookalike - miniature schnauzer Chilly with owner Milla
  • Best Adopted Dog - silkyhuahua and owner Jeremy 
  • Douglas's Top Dogs for 2026 were Skipper and Chelsea with owner Amanda Connolly
