The leaders of Douglas Shire are talking my Jungle Juice language... a rum-fuelled recovery.

Forget bana grass guys, I mean what's it even good for?

Biodiversity is always a popular play too, but Council seems to be making a pretty clear statement on that front in Rex Smeal Park.

Rum, though, is brilliant. Get rum right and biofuel is not required either.

There have been plenty of nights I've dropped the Bundy dregs in the Datto to fuel the drive home from the Tav. It is a winner. Beat the booze bus by staying under the limit and beat em at the bowser where petrol is about the same price as rum, and only tastes half as good.

Council's rum making plan will kill two birds with one stone.  Not as efficient as 30 by cutting down one big fig tree, but on the right track.

We defintely need a new industry here and Council seems to be getting creative.

They can do with some inspiration though, I reckon. And when I handed over some of my hard earned on Monday night at The Surfy for a Melbourne Cup horse, Trustyourinstinct, a light bulb moment was had.

We need to build a racecourse here. We've got the land and we could keep the sugar cane around the edges for the Field of Dreams feel.

But it is not even a case of "build it and they will come". Judging by the full venues, flash hats and $10k raised for the surf club from the Cup Calcutta, they're already here with Flemington fever.

And now I've bought a horse, I need somewhere to race it!

Hold up...what do you mean there's no actual horse?
