Is this evidence available for public scrutiny?? I need to read the report and to look at the thermal imaging.

How insane and stupid this behaviour has been from a lot of locals and a lot of non locals. It is a TREE that is rotten and dangerous for god's sake. Safety first. There are hundreds of trees in Port Douglas. To see this end up in the Supreme Court is so ludicrous irresponsible dumb behaviour - who pays the legal costs and up go our rates even more. This area can transform into many other trees to be planted which will be healthy mature trees and enhance the area even more than it is now. Think about safety first then create design a new area to out dazzle the existing one. It’s not hard folks.

Julie O'Gorman

Just goes to show, us locals have no voice!!!

Kirsten Jorgensen

Very sad to see this happening, Enough trees have been getting cut down.

Karen Marsden

I believe there was a court date set... doesn't matter what Council think is best. This is a tree in a public park. The public have spoken. If council go ahead with this they are going against the wishes of the people that pay their outrageous salaries.

Good for you David Kempton MP. Always working hard for your people. Just to let you know that we appreciate all your efforts. Well done.

Christopher O'Reilly

Yes, add my name to your petition 110%. Having been in isolation in Far Nth Qld and Far South West Qld, a need for this service is bloody vital. Have been in life-threatening medical situation that a CT scan saved my life twice, if not l would be DEAD.

Connie Brun

But on the other hand everyone is screaming stop government spending.

Terence Melchert

Keep up the good work - I am sure Mossman’s deserves and needs a CT scanner and one will come sooner rather than later.

Dalia Mckelvey

Yeah make it happen.

So the developers get a hand out but will still charge full prce for the finished products? To me it looks like the developers get richer. Or am I missing something here?

For who, southern investors who then turn them into BNBs?? Or locals who need them? Maybe fix the issue which is too many BNBs, have the council done anything about this yet? We all know the Douglas Shire can't handle more population with water and roads. And also destroying the area!!! Fix the real issues first.

Vanetta Nunn-Pattrick

What was that "the money waived by the council would flow back to the community in the form of more jobs, schools and other benefits." I don't believe that for a second. And what exactly are "other benefits"? Douglas Shire Council cannot handle/maintain what is here now.

Lisa Lopez

Typical locals - never read the article before commenting. It's a pretty good scheme and not just for big developers or billionaires. It encourages people with big acreage to build small homes/villages. What's not being discussed is why now? Possibly connected to approving that huge workers' village at Crees Ck down the track. Watch that space.
