Four nominate for Tablelands councillor spot
Council News
Four candidates have nominated to be the next Councillor for Division 1 of Tablelands Regional Council.
The ballot order draw was conducted last week on Thursday in Atherton following the close of nominations at noon.
Candidates in ballot paper order are:
- Bernie WILCE
- Mark NORVALL
- Kate EDEN
- Greg ENGLISH
Electoral Commissioner Pat Vidgen said he was pleased to see candidates willing to represent their community ahead of the Saturday, October 31 by-election.
“With the order of the ballot paper finalised, we will begin printing and mailing your ballot packs,” Mr Vidgen said. “All people enrolled in Tablelands Regional Council Division 1 will receive their pack in the post. There will be no polling places to vote in person.”
“When you receive your postal ballot pack, it’s very important to follow the instructions on your ballot paper to ensure your vote counts. This includes signing the declaration envelope and making sure the envelope is also signed by a witness.
“For your vote to count, we must receive your completed ballot paper by 5pm on Tuesday 10 November,” he said.
Mr Vidgen reminded the 3,300 enrolled voters in Tablelands Division 1 that voting is compulsory and failure to vote can attract a $172 fine.
