'Rare earth' attracts hot auction action
BeCHe Sale
Rare beachside land in Port Douglas just a stroll to Four Mile Beach is going under the hammer, with the final eight land parcels within BeCHe Estate attracting interest from around Australia.
It is the first time BeCHe Estate has offered up land-only lots, with Lloyds Auctions to do the honours of selling.
About 350 metres from Four Mile Beach, BeCHe Estate is an example of some of the rarest land in the region, if not all of Queensland.
The online auction, closing today (Thursday, October 1) has around 50 registered bidders, predominantly on the East Coast of Australia and attracted more than 200 calls and 8000 views since it went live.
Sitting beside Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort and Spa, placing the estate within one of Tropical North Queensland’s most tightly held coastal pockets and on the doorstep of one of Australia’s best-known gateway regions to the Great Barrier Reef.
“This is the kind of offering that immediately stands out because opportunities like this are increasingly difficult to find,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer, Lloyds Auctions.
“To have the final eight parcels in a boutique estate released as land-only lots, this close to Four Mile Beach and within one of the country’s most recognised tourism destinations, gives the offering broad appeal across a number of buyer groups.”
With beachside land in Port Douglas rarely becoming available, the release is expected to attract interest from owner-occupiers, second-home buyers, investors, developers and buyers seeking to secure a future landholding in one of the region’s most recognisable lifestyle destinations.
Developed by Cavall Investments and delivered by Allaro Homes, BeCHe is already taking shape as an emerging coastal community, with eight homes currently under construction and the first completions approaching. Buyers can select from priced home designs for each lot, work with Allaro Homes on a bespoke residence, or secure the land and build at a later stage.
The location places buyers close to Port Douglas village, the marina, the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest and Cairns International Airport, approximately one hour to the south, adding to the estate’s appeal as both a lifestyle opportunity and a tightly held coastal land offering.
Port Douglas attracts more than 620,000 visitors annually, including approximately 443,000 overnight visitors who account for around 5.8 million visitor nights each year, with an average stay of 9.7 nights, reinforcing the region’s standing as one of Tropical North Queensland’s most established tourism destinations.
“What makes this release especially compelling is that buyers are not simply looking at vacant land, they are looking at a limited chance to secure a position in one of Far North Queensland’s best-known beachside destinations, in a region with proven tourism appeal and very limited coastal land supply,” Hames said.
“The flexibility to buy one parcel or the full eight-lot holding is also significant, because it opens the door to very different types of purchasers, from private buyers right through to those considering a broader strategic acquisition.”
With limited undeveloped coastal land remaining in tightly held pockets in Port Douglas, the release presents a rare opportunity to secure a premium beachside address in a location underpinned by tourism appeal, established amenity and long-term scarcity.
The final eight BeCHe land parcels will be offered through Lloyds Auctions, with further information available at www.lloydsauctions.com.au.
