Lazy Lizard lifts again to snare two more accolades

The Lazy Lizard Motor Inn continues to snare awards - with the venue winning the Australian Resident Accommodation Managers Association Resident Manager of the Year Short Stay prize last week.
Then, this week, the Lazy Lizard was named a finalist in the 2026 Queensland Tourism Awards, so co-managers Aidan Mulcahy and Alex Scott may be heading to the Gold Coast later in the year for that ceremony.
Mr Mulcahy says the ARAMA judges recognised the commitment to consistency, continual improvement and delivering a great guest experience — including clean rooms, friendly service and excellent value.
“Alex couldn't attend because he stayed in Port Douglas looking after our guests, so I had the slightly terrifying job of accepting the award in front of around 500 people on behalf of both of us,” he says.
The judges also mentioned the popular inn’s 92.6 per cent Global Review Index and last year’s Queensland Tourism Awards Gold.
“We'll be heading to the Gold Coast on 6 November to see what happens this year,” Mr Mulcahy says of that approaching awards night.
