A trio of people have been airlifted to hospital following a two-car crash on the Mulligan Highway near Mount Carbine overnight.

A teenager sustained head and neck injuries, another teenager suffered pelvic injuries, and a third person in their 60s experienced chest and hand pain following the incident at Desailly at about 3.30am this morning.

Another five people who were involved in the crash were uninjured.

The road was closed following the incident, causing major traffic delays.

The collision took place near the corner of Hurricane Road and Mulligan Highway.

Meanwhile, a man in his 20s was airlifted to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition with leg injuries following an accident involving a car and pedestrian in Atherton at about 9.15pm on Saturday night.
