A new 2027 calendar featuring digitally restored historical photos from across Douglas Shire has been launched by the local historical society.

Douglas Shire Historical Society media liaison officer Pam Willis-Burden said group members had spent hundreds of hours painstakingly adding details to faded photos to help produce the calendar.

“The committee has laboured over each photograph, bringing details to the forefront and the photos to life,” Mrs Willis-Burden said.

“The result is stunning.”

The calendar has been created to mark 150 years of the Shire and is being published with the help of the DSC and other sponsors.

It will be available to buy in Port Douglas at the Court House Museum and retail shop With Sugar.
